Wireless-charging growth for certified Qi chargers

General News

Summary

“ST is helping wireless charging thrive by providing a secure way to authenticate genuine Qi-certified chargers before increasing the charge at any power level over five Watts,” said Laurent Degauque, Marketing Director, Secure Microcontroller Division, STMicroelectronics. “Our solutions compliant with WPC-Qi specification V1.3 are based on ST secure elements certified Common Criteria EAL5+ and AEC-Q100 for automotive.” STSAFE secure elements are loaded with official Qi Certificates and provide authentication that leverages cryptography. The STSAFE IC family provides common functions and services to ensure end-to-end security optimised for consumables, connected devices and automotive peripherals. They offer authentication based on ECDSA asymmetric cryptography and X509 certificates containing a unique serial number. Users can also take advantage of a comprehensive STSAFE-A110 ecosystem to support product development and ease integration of the STSAFE-A110 with the application host system, including ST’s STM32* microcontroller family, and devices such as ST’s STWBC2 digital controller for wireless battery charger transmitters.
