Salesforce is buying Fin, the AI customer agent company formerly known as Intercom, for about $3.6bn. Fin sells software that resolves customer queries across chat, email, WhatsApp, phone, and Slack, and it powers the service through its Apex AI model. The deal adds another AI capability to Salesforce’s Agentforce platform and supports its push toward agentic enterprise software. Fin had already raised $250m in debt and planned major hiring before the acquisition. The company says more than 30,000 customers use its products and that it surpassed $400m in annual recurring revenue.
