ScraperWiki, a Liverpool, UK-based data hub startup, completed a $1m funding.Backers include the North West Fund for Venture Capital, managed by EV, which has made a substantial investment as part of the round.The company intends to use the capital to to scale up development and rollout its collaborative data platform.In conjunction with the funding, Jane Silber, CEO of Canonical, which produces Ubuntu, the open source platform for client, server and cloud computing, is joining as chair of ScraperWiki’s board.Originally started by Aidan McGuire and Julian Todd, and led by CEO Francis Irving, ScraperWiki is an online tool to make data extraction simpler and more collaborative.
