Travelcircus Raises €2M in First Funding Round

Travelcircus, a Berlin, Germany-based travel booking platform, raised €2m in its first funding.Backers included Howzat Partners, Mairdumont Ventures, Tengelmann Ventures and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft.The company intends to use the funds to expand into Europe starting with Scandinavian countries in 2016, as well as to increase its marketing and sales efforts.Co-founded by Bastian Böckenhüser and Mathias Zeitler, Travelcircus is an online travel platform that markets selected 4 and 5 star hotels and events to an exclusive target group.The company, which employs 20 employees from seven different countries, works with more than 200 hotels, live events, spa services, and gourmet restaurants in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
