Prior to that, May was the Southeast Region Field Vice President for the American Cancer Society, and helped the organization raise $60 million in revenue to support research and programs during her seven years there.“I am thrilled to join such a dedicated and determined group of individuals who share the same vision of a world without Alzheimer’s,” said Ann May, newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Alzheimer’s Association Southeast Florida Chapter.The Association’s mission is to eliminate Alzheimers disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.“Ann brings a wealth of experience in the non-profit and volunteer development sectors and equally important, she shares a passion for our mission and is the right leader to help raise concern and awareness about Alzheimer’s disease in our community.”May joins the Alzheimer’s Association with 30 years of leadership experience in a variety of roles at several leading non-profit organizations, including the American Cancer Society, the YMCA and most recently, Best Buddies International.As the Senior Director of State Development for Best Buddies International, May created the first standardized national walk model for the organization which raised more than $3 million dollars and boasted 24,000 participants in the walks.The Association’s mission is to eliminate Alzheimers disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
