Richie Chavis Raleigh, NC, November 30, 2012 --( The fourth Hero Home is specially equipped and wheelchair-friendly, with features designed to provide easy accessibility to all rooms.Operation: Coming Home volunteers and local dignitaries will be on hand during the ceremony to present Chavis with the key to his new house, which he will share with wife, Laken Lecole, their son, Isiah, and their daughter, Madeline Rose.The project builds and donates homes for disabled combat veterans who have served in the Middle East, after a selection committee interviews candidates to determine the best fit.Chavis, a member of 1/8 Weapons Company, 2 D Marine Division out of Camp Lejeune, lost both legs when he was severely injured by an Improvised Explosive Device in Afghanistan on Nov. 29, 2010.The project builds and donates homes for disabled combat veterans who have served in the Middle East, after a selection committee interviews candidates to determine the best fit.
