AxioMed Spine Corp., a Cleveland, Ohio-based spinal orthopedics company, raised $3.6m in funding.Backers included existing and new investors.Led by Patrick McBrayer, President and Chief Executive Officer, and James Kuras, Chief Operating Officer, AxioMed develops products focused on spinal function for patients with degenerative spine disease.The company’s flagship products, the Freedom® Lumbar and Cervical Discs, were developed and designed by a team of clinicians and experts in the fields of biomechanics, pathology, spinal surgery and polymer science.They have both received CE Mark approval for distribution in the European Union and AxioMed is also pursuing US regulatory approval for its Freedom technology.
