Trace Genomics (previously PathoGn, Inc.), a San Francisco, CA-based developer of a proprietary molecular assay for soil-borne pathogens, raised $4m in seed funding.The round was led by Refactor Capital, with participation from Fall Line Capital, Viking Global and Illumina, which accelerated the company through its dedicated program.Co-founded by Diane Wu and Poornima Parameswaran, Trace Genomics provides a molecular assay for soil and seed-borne pathogens that enables the detection of hundreds of pathogens and beneficial organisms simultaneously.The company’s first microbiome test for the food supply allows farmers and growers to receive a kit for testing diseases affecting strawberry and lettuce.Trace Genomics will launch the test for new crops in the coming months.
