Kindred Raises $28M in Series B Funding

Kindred, a San Francisco, CA-based company building human-like intelligence in machines, raised $28m in Series B funding.The company intends to use the funds for continued research, development and deployment of its robots as a service.Founded in 2014 and led by George Babu, Kindred is focused on uncovering how brains learn through a physical body, and applying those learnings to create and teach a new intelligent class of robots that will enhance the quality of our day-to-day lives, and in particular, the way we work.The company also announced that major global retailers have started pilot programs integrating Kindred Sort, its first commercial offering, in existing fulfillment centers.Kindred Sort was developed for use in retail distribution and ecommerce fulfillment centers to quickly and accurately sort an endless variety of products into orders, side by side with warehouse staff.
