Buckle up Facebook, Google is tying its 'shoelaces' again for the social media race

General News

Summary

Google has tried its hand to have a ‘rival’ to Facebook but somehow it has fallen short badly. However, it looks like Google hasn’t completely given up on the social media.A report by Android Police reveals that Google has a new app called Shoelace which “helps connect people with shared interests through in person activities.”A quick look at Shoelace website tells you that it is developed by Area 120, which is Google’s ‘workshop’ for experimental products. All this done through activities which are actually called Loops. The name comes from the fact that it gets people ‘tied’ up based on their common interests. Once the user has installed an app, they are asked to join a community and it ensures that they attend ‘Loops’ with people they would want to. But the whens and wheres of it are clearly not specified as it looks Google is looking to get back into the social media race without making too much this time.
