General News

Summary

“In New Orleans, it is tough to resist the fried oyster po’boy’s and crawfish bread, but the Fit NOLA app gives us the tools we need to make better choices and lead a more healthy lifestyle,” said Mayor Mitch Landrieu. The app then instantly matches food items from over 100 local restaurants already approved through Eat Fit NOLA’s pre-established guidelines to the user’s personal nutritional preferences and displays the information in a simple to understand format. “With the release of the Fit NOLA app, we have reached a milestone in demonstrating how public health agencies can coordinate and collaborate with community-based healthcare providers, non-profits and employers. NOHD aims to build a healthy New Orleans through equitable social and environmental conditions and through policies, programs and partnerships that promote health. Fit NOLA, an initiative created by Mayor Landrieu, brings together over 200 community partners to help New Orleanians achieve and maintain healthy lifestyles with backbone support from the City of New Orleans Health Department.
