Viewpoints Buys ‘Green’ Reviews Site Ecoscene

Reviews startup Viewpoints has bought up Ecoscene, a site which offers staff-written reviews on eco-friendly products. Members join for free and subscribe to a weekly newsletter, which includes the latest reviews as well as special deals. Viewpoints — which is much larger — has a different model, with user-generated reviews on a wide variety of items, from cars to movies, on its flagship site; the company also provides a platform to e-commerce retailers, so that they can add product reviews, discussion boards and blogs to their own sites. All of Ecoscene’s reviews have now been moved over to Viewpoints. Viewpoints had raised $5 million in a first round three years ago.
