Successful start-ups focus on one thing, not many – the hackajob story

General News

Summary

The experience we gained by participating in that, raising more than $1m (£800,000) in funding from investors such as Downing Ventures, gave us the confidence to build a proposition and product. We use the Lean Start-up methodology – a concept that focuses on continuously building, measuring and learning, to test ideas and find out what really works for our users. Especially in the early stages of an entrepreneur’s life, having your path cluttered with opportunities that arent a priority will lead you to disappointment and, quite possibly, failure. We made the same mistake in the beginning by trying to develop three recruitment products – tools for clients to source and screen technical candidates – instead of just one, but we’ve since realised that focus is crucial for success. We move incredibly quickly from both a product and sales, and marketing perspective by putting our heads down and concentrating on execution.
