New in Chicago U of C-born app aims to make life easier for doctors
Summary
Tap Recorder is an app that lets you make notations on an audio file as youre recording with your iPhone. “It was originally started because we were working with some doctors, and they mentioned that theyd love to find a better way to record some of their consultations and transcribe them,” says Dave Thomas, who co-founded the Chicago startup with Matthew Chen. Throughout the conversation you could tap it, swipe it, put your hand over it, and each of those gestures would correspond to an annotation, a bookmark or highlights.” Tap Recorder is part of this summers accelerator program at the University of Chicagos Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Thomas says the app, which is in private beta testing, will be launched publicly in late September. Eventually, the company plans to add a feature allowing users to pay for a transcription of the audio.
