QuickCouponSearch

General News

Summary

After observing its behavior and analyzing its functionality, cybersecurity researchers have determined that the QuickCouponSearch application is another intrusive browser hijacker. Depending on factors, such as the specific IP address and geolocation, users could be shown results from the legitimate search.yahoo.com engine or the questionable nearby.me page. Browser hijackers and other PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) also are commonly tasked with spying on the browsing activities taking place on the system. These intrusive applications may be siphoning the entire browsing and search histories, all clicked URLs, the devices IP address, geolocation, browser type and more. Even sensitive autofill data such as banking and payment information saved into the browser could be compromised and exposed to the PUPs operators.
