Fire acquire winger Jairo Torres on transfer from Liga MX
Summary
The 21-year-old will join the club on May 1, and his contract with Chicago will run through the 2025 season, the Fire announced Saturday. "Jairo checks all the boxes that we were looking for in a Young Designated Player, and were very pleased to acquire his services ahead of the Clubs 25th season in MLS," George Heitz, the Fires sporting director, said in a news release. "Jairo has been one of the most productive young players in Liga MX and was an integral part of Atlas championship-winning team in 2021. Torres made his debut with Atlas in November 2016 at age 16 and has appeared in 108 matches (80 starts) across all competitions. Among players under 23, he ranks first in Liga MX in key passes, second in precise crosses, third in expected goals and assists, and third in attacking one-on-one situations.
