Aziz played a pivotal role in advising the government in 1997 about the need for extending special assistance to the ICT sector, which eventually led to the formation of Bangladesh Association of Software and Services (BASIS). Born on February 7, 1941, Aziz studied commerce at the University of Dhaka in the early 60s, and then did his MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, in 1965, majoring in marketing.
