DeepScribe Raises $5.2M in Seed Funding

Funding Rounds

Summary

DeepScribe, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of an ambient AI medical scribe, raised $5.2M in seed funding. Founded by Akilesh Bapu, Matthew Ko and Kairui Zeng, and based on technology developed at UC Berkeley’s AI Research Lab, DeepScribe is ambient AI for medical note-taking. The company’s AI model developed at UC Berkeley’s AI Research Lab combines classical rule-based natural language processing (NLP) with modern deep learning techniques to deliver ‘ambient AI’ that captures both sides of doctor-patient interactions and distils them to their essence without the doctor’s intervention. While the doctor focuses on the patient, DeepScribe listens in the background, takes notes and automatically summarizes the entire conversation into a compliant note in the doctor’s EHR system. The system interfaces with major EHR platforms including AdvancedMD, AthenaHealth, Claimpower, Elation, DrChrono and PracticeFusion.
