Yantai Beacon Medical is a privately owned company based in Yantai, China that provides design, engineering and construction of medical gas systems and purified operating rooms (OR) and intensive care units (ICU), as well as supplying large oxygen generators and accessories, to China’s hospitals and healthcare institutions. Since its founding in 1999, the Company has built a strong presence covering hundreds of large and mid-sized hospitals across China. Essex Woodlands, together with FountainVest Partners, a leading China-focused private equity firm, acquired a controlling stake in Yantai Beacon in 2013. This is the fourth investment for Essex Woodlands in China, whose large and growing economy, together with an aging population with increasing wealth level and disposable income, are driving rapidly growing demand for healthcare.
