Knight-Swift Transportation Tuesday announced the launch of a services division that offers small fleets buying power and leverage common among large carriers. Iron Truck Services brings together services like insurance, equipment maintenance, fuel purchasing, and truck sales and rentals and offers discounted solutions to truckload carriers by leveraging the scale and infrastructure of CCJ Top 250, No. Knight-Swift CEO David Jackson noted many small carriers are forced to pay pay retail prices for fundamental business services because they lack the kind of buying power that comes with scale. “Although we have offered fuel purchasing and truck sales programs for years, the insurance and maintenance services were just initiated in 2020 and have seen significant interest and growth," added Ken Cranston, vice president of carrier services. Iron Truck Services includes Iron Insurance, which provides auto, general and cargo liability insurance, as well as physical damage insurance options with policies supported by risk management services that promote safe operational practices for policyholders; Iron Fuel Program, a free membership program providing access to a discount network of more than 1,500 fueling locations nationwide, with savings, credit lines, fuel tax filing and other benefits; Iron Maintenance, which offers wholesale prices, free DOT inspections and maintenance services at 19 locations nationwide, with additional locations planned to open before the end of the year; and Iron Truck Sales and Rentals, which offers a wide selection of used, DOT qualified trucks and equipment at 30 locations nationwide.
