Computer security company struggles to define its market

In September, 2014, looking out from his live-aboard boat docked at Constitution Marina in Charlestown, Mass., Ken Jennings, co-founder of Urqui, pondered how his three months residency at the Canadian Technology Accelerator Program (CTA@Boston) at the Cambridge Innovation Centre would help his startup company identify a target market for their recently patented password alternative. Urqui, a secure cloud-based password alternative, was developed in 2012 by Mr. Jennings co-founder, Jonathan Bell, a veteran of the information technology industry. Before the start of the CTA, Dr, Fernandez had introduced Urquis Multi Factor Authentication solution to the IT managers at the École Polytechnique. He also found out that the Centralized Authentication Service (CAS) used for login by Polytechnique faculty, staff and students was used in over 80 per cent of universities across North America.
