We get to the lab, take temperatures, perform maintenance, check our supplies, and then do startup on our analyzers and then proceed with quality control and patient samples. I will admit that these tasks were so routine, I would forget that I had done them and have to recheck my maintenance logs to be sure. I always thought that my grandparents and parents were crazy for getting up with the chickens and going to bed at dark but now I am doing the exact same thing. For example, this morning I went to the gym for an hour, cleaned my house, did a load of laundry, answered some emails, and it was just 9:35! Whether the medical record is an EMR, SchuyNet Clinician Results, SchuyNet Patient Portal, or a paper copy, this is the work of the lab and knowing that your lab is dependable and predictable is invaluable in today’s medicine.
