While I was working, I did a rough monthly estimate but there was a wide range of variability. And we saw patients for other types of sample collections than venipuncture or capillary puncture. Actually, I can honestly say that the answer is “none of the above.” The most important task that we have is to take care of the patient that is in front of us now. Our record of successful blood draws means nothing to the current patient. The patient needs to see that you care and that you are doing your utmost to make the stick as painless as possible.
