Thermal Treatment of Ash-contaminated Particulate Filters

General News

Summary

A preprint containing the results of a collaboration between the University of Cambridge, Shell, CARES, Nanyang Technological University and CMCL Innovations, on thermal treatment of ash-contaminated particulate filters is now available. The work investigates the impact of thermal treatment on the pressure drop of particulate filters containing ash deposits. Models have been developed to simulate the deposition of soot and ash particles, the spatial distribution of the deposits in such filters, and a phenomenological description of the potential sintering and cracking of the ash deposits. This work supports the development of future ash management strategies. Access the preprint from here.
