Emerson Survey: Hands-On Experience Critical for STEM Education, a Challenge in Remote Learning

LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As school districts across the United States reimagine the start to the school year in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, a parent survey by manufacturing software and technology leader Emerson (NYSE: EMR) finds that a vital part of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education has been difficult to translate from the classroom to virtual learning: hands-on experience. To help children in its own Missouri headquarters community, Emerson distributed more than 6,000 kits containing instructions and supplies to elementary and middle-school students in Ferguson, Florissant and Jennings school districts. These STEM activities were designed to help drive continuity in the hands-on education that students would typically receive in a classroom and support to parents.
