Bell X-22 - 3D printed - RC Groups

General News

Summary

However, where I think it will not bore you guys, Ill put an update link in here from time-to-time as I make some progress with the printing. Some design the skin and support structure, complete with lightning holes, hinge slots, wire runs, servo trays etc. You can see from some of the pics below how Ive split the wing and motor support up into pieces which are then glued together with CA or acetone. Im keying them with 1.75mm holes to pin with the PLA print material (or cf..) The nacelle is made up of 24 dovetailed pieces. The reason should be clear (pun) - 50% saving in weight, at a cost of 4 x the print time to that of a 0.4 mm nozzle.
