Old traxxas villain iv - RC Groups

Someone gave me an old traxxas villain iv with 25mhz analog receiver and transmitter. I am into drones and helicopters and have spectrum gear. Any ideas if a modern 2.4ghz receiver Could replace the old one in here? Also it is powered by 2x 6 cell nicad batteries. Could I just put a lipo in there?
