General News

Summary

At the 49th meeting of the CA/Browser Forum held in February 2020, Apple announced that they are changing their root embedding policy to require TLS/SSL certificates have a maximum validity period of 398-days. Browser companies voted unanimously in favor of Ballot SC22, arguing that in summary it strengthened Internet security and would add more pressure to apply certificate management automation. Entrust Certificate Services (ECS) will be adjusted to meet the maximum validity period, reducing it from 825-days to 398 days. Customers will be able to maintain compliance using our robust discovery, automation, renewal alerts, and reporting tools available through ECS. Entrust Datacards follow-the-sun support team will be on hand to offer expertise and ensure a smooth transition throughout the process.
