RC truck for kids - RC Groups

Im sure this has been asked before, but couldnt find anything answering my question by searching. My granddaughter and her SO have recently gotten into RC trucks; 1/10, trophy truck style, and thinking about buying one for my great granddaughter for her upcoming 7th birthday. I have a Redcat Racing 1/10 Blackout that my great granddaughter has tried and have learned a couple of things that I think are needed to suit a child her age; 1) A physically smaller controller that she can handle comfortably 2) A max speed adjustment as the typical top speed of these things is a bit much for a 7 year old Dont know that this would need to be 1/10, I think something a bit smaller would be better, 1/12 or 1/16. Would also prefer something using a NiMH battery rather than Li-ion so it takes less attention with regard to charging. Will appreciate any suggestions for candidate trucks that meet these criteria.
