Opinion: Four egg rolls, a $20 tip and a bunch of heart
Summary
The dim lighting, soft music and waiters stepping neatly around chattering tables of adults exuded an entirely different vibe than the casual athletic outfit I’d thrown together earlier that morning. Knowing I’d be spending the day at Starbucks studying, I’d selected light blue leggings, a Nike sweatshirt and tennis shoes and gathered my curly hair into a ponytail. I knew he wasn’t going to say a word about it, so when a waitress with short curly hair and a friendly expression stopped by and introduced herself as Stacey, I decided I’d mention it. He declined, and we decided to order four vegetable egg rolls instead, figuring an appetizer had a higher chance of arriving on time than an entrée. Throughout the remainder of the meal, Stacey stopped by numerous times to refill our water glasses, asking if we needed anything else, even responding to me with a "yes ma’am" after I thanked her.
