AMD backs Patriot Scientific
Summary
The company kicked up a stir when it set about suing anyone who makes a device that includes a processor clocked at over 120MHz. The company began by suing PC makers and now has suits pending against Intel, Sony, Toshiba, and a numer of other tech players big and small. I dont think Patriot will ultimately win their suits (or, at least, I hope they wont), but they can wage a distracting and costly harassment campaign against Intel. This is pretty much the exact same strategy that MS used against Linux by funding SCO and licensing its IP. (Licensing agreements go a long way in convincing the court that your claims to ownership of contested IP are legitimate.
