Fantasy Sports Ventures Buys Sports Blog The Big Lead

The NYT says Fantasy Sports Ventures is paying in the “low seven figures” to buy the four year-old site, which was co-founded by Jason McIntyre, a former editor at US Weekly. McIntyre is staying on and will serve as editor and general manager. Fantasy Sports Ventures has bought up a number of sites over the years, including BaseballHQ, HoopsHype and TheHuddle. The startup’s backers include Gannett (NYSE: GCI) flagship USA Today, which purchased a minority stake in the company two years ago.
