Citrix Acquires Cedexis to Improve App Performance in Hybrid Clouds
Summary
Citrix will use Cedexis’ technology to streamline application and data delivery to the cloud, to manage network resources, and to improve traffic routing. Cedexis’ cloud-native platform optimizes traffic across public clouds, data centers, content delivery networks (CDNs), and Internet service providers (ISPs) across global points of presence. Enterprises can use this programmable traffic steering to improve application performance in a variety of networking and cloud environments. The acquisition also represents a push from Citrix, as CEO and President David Henshall told investors in its Q4 2017 earnings call, to meet increasing demands for hybrid cloud environments and to push into new business areas such as security and analytics. Cedexis’ real-time traffic steering capabilities is based on telemetry data, analytics, and insights that can adjust to different applications and to different networks, whether hybrid or multi-cloud.
