By of the Milwaukee-based Direct Supply Inc. is planning a new office building that eventually could house up to 800 employees at its northwest side corporate campus. Also, the company has 70 employees at its technology center at 1020 N. Broadway, within the Milwaukee School of Engineerings downtown campus. Direct Supply in 2006 announced plans to add 500,000 square feet to its 210,000-square-foot corporate campus. Those funds, which so far total $1.7 million, are provided through property tax rebates as Direct Supply expands its operations. Founded by Bob Hillis in 1985, the company operates an Internet-based network of long-term care providers and suppliers, which helps them buy supplies more efficiently.
