Infoready vendors bail out of sinking Arq Group
Summary
You know a companys totally botched an acquisition when it ends up selling it back to its founders in four short years. Adding insult to injury for the shareholders of bombed-out listed internet company Arq Group: their (acting) CEO not only shared in those proceeds as a founder of that business, he’s now sold it – and more – back to himself. In March 2016, the now-departed Arq Group interim chief Tristan Sternson, along with Justin Parcell and Cameron Bogg, sold their Infoready business to what was then known as Melbourne IT for $15.4 million. Which the company refused on Tuesday to elucidate, saying it "does not comment on the earnings of individuals". In 2018, their earn-out amounted to $5.7 million and in 2019 their third-year earn-out was worth a whopping $13 million in cash and equity, a figure so large Melbourne IT (now Arq) entered into a delayed payment plan to deal with it – the delayed payment accruing interest, naturally.
