Delivery App Local Roots Expands its Fresh Food Marketplace to Include Neighbor Vendors

Just in time for summer vegetable season, Atlanta-based delivery platform Local Roots, announced today that any metro-Atlanta resident can now open up their backyard gardens and kitchens and sell their homegrown produce and goods to fellow neighbors straight from their mobile device. Previously, Local Roots connected area farmers and artisans to consumers, but this expansion opens the app’s marketplace to backyard gardeners and even startup foodpreneurs. Local Roots is currently available on iOS, is free to download and poses no start up costs for home growers, farmers and artisans to sell their products. Through mobile purchases and home deliveries, the company aims to bring the food supply back into local communities. Local Roots was founded in 2014 with a seed investment from New Enterprise Associates (NEA), and was recently hand-selected to be one of the first residents in Atlanta’s new Switchyards Downtown Club.
