Chick Tech attracts MHS girls
Summary
Twenty-seven Madras High School girls got to attend a two-day ChickTech computer programming workshop March 1 and 2. Held on the COCC Madras campus, the workshop was offered by the nonprofit ChickTech group out of Portland to help girls feel more confident about technology. The girls were nominated by their teachers and could chose to attend workshops in electronic circuits, software, or robotics. The focus of ChickTechs outreach events is to facilitate hands-on technology-centric workshops to empower, support, and increase the confidence of women and girls. Through the workshops the group hopes to build community, empower students to see themselves as leaders, and provide networking and mentoring opportunities in the rapidly growing high tech industry.
