Green Guide letters: TV and radio audiences have their say
Summary
She neatly highlights Ken Burn’s unique talents as a documentary filmmaker, his innovative techniques, and his rare ability to penetrate the very heart of his subject. Working some nights at a community residential facility, I get to see reality programs I would never watch at home, for example MKR, The Bachelor and Married at First Sight. After sampling the debut of Pooch Perfect (Channel Seven) I walked away totally convinced that US cult band Devo were culturally astute in their view that we are sliding into the abyss at a rapid rate. It’s challenging to imagine anything worse than this very low watermark – unless the social engineers at the networks have a canine matchmaking show somewhere in the developmental stages. I am so disappointed as a woman that both Ellen Fanning and Julia Baird, who I have some respect for as journalists, so often collapse into giggling and interrupting when serious commentary is being provided on The Drum.
