Sludge Names
Summary
Last week a representative from a very large catalog company called to tell me that they would be closing down and shutting the doors at the end of the month. The caller, who is not a Datamann client, asked that I keep their news confidential and I promised that I would not announce their closing in my blog. It’s the names being sourced from PPC, SEO, social, affiliates, mobile, email and who knows where, that are usually of no value when it comes to mailing a catalog to acquire a new customer. You know from your own experience how difficult it is to get a catalog response from your own customers that you originally sourced via PPC or SEO, especially if they ordered from you via mobile. You simply can’t ignore the volume of transactions every company is receiving via a variety of sources (PPC, SEO, email, affiliates, Amazon, Facebook/Instagram/Pinterest, etc.).
