Ogury Raises $50 Million On A Mission To Help Apps Embrace User Consent

Funding Rounds

Summary

Mobile data company Ogury raised $50 million in Series C funding on Thursday with an eye on international expansion and consumer privacy-related R&D. Beyond growing its presence in Europe and APAC – Ogury recently opened offices in Germany, the Netherlands and Singapore and has designs on cracking the Japan market – CEO Thomas Pasquet said he plans to earmark a good chunk of the funds for product development centered on consumer choice. Pasquet said Ogury is also considering putting some of its new funding toward acquiring a CMP company to help beef up its in-house consent tools. “There were companies that had to close up shop in Europe because of GDPR, but hiding is not a solution, especially with CCPA coming.” At the same time, consumers need to understand why they’re being asked to opt in to data sharing or collection. The company, which claims to be profitable and says it reached $100 million in global revenue last year, is planning on hiring to fill roles across the board for its newest offices in all regions.
