Summary
We drank Kool-Aid, Iced Tea or Lemonade made from water that came from our kitchen faucet. We ate ham and bologna sandwiches, potted meat, hotdogs, and peanut butter sandwiches, but mostly we ate home-cooked meals consisting of beef, chicken, pork, rice, potatoes, green beans, pinto beans & vegetables grown from a garden. We watched TV as a family: Good Times, I Spy, Bonanza, Superman, The Jeffersons, I Love Lucy, Gilligan’s Island, Wild, Wild West, Julia, Sanford and Son, The Mod Squad, The Waltons, Mary Tyler Moore, Hazel, Gunsmoke, The Little Rascals and Marcus Welby. If someone had a fight, that’s what it was – a fistfight and you were back to being friends a few days later and the bullying pretty much ceased. We said the Pledge of Allegiance, said morning prayers, stood for the National Anthem, listened to our teachers, and went to church on Sunday.
