Chrome will protect passwords with biometrics

New Products

▤ Summary

Google is testing a new Chrome option on Android that requires biometric verification before saved passwords can be autofilled. The feature runs in Chrome Canary through an experimental flag called Biometric reauth for password filling. Users who enable it must confirm with a fingerprint, face recognition, or another supported screen-lock method after selecting a stored credential. This adds another security check to Google Password Manager’s autofill flow without changing the user’s existing password storage setup. Google has not announced a release date, and the feature remains off by default.
