Volla Cloud: Secure messenger and smartphone backups completely without a data center

Volla Systems has launched a decentralized cloud ecosystem that avoids traditional servers and data centers. The first release, Volla Messages, is now available as a messenger for Android, macOS, Windows, and Linux, with an iOS test planned soon. The company also opened a public beta for Volla Recovery, which lets users create encrypted smartphone backups by using friends and family devices as distributed storage. Both services rely on the open-source Holochain framework and are published as open source on GitHub. Volla plans to integrate the backup service more deeply into Volla OS 16.
