If it requires the dismantling of the equipment and then replacement and realignment of parts, having that yearly change out of tubing is worth it. And if you are located outside of the driving range of an engineer, then you have to foot the bill for airfare and rental car. As government regulations and requirements increase, software has to adapt to the new rules, particularly in the lab information systems and electronic medical records. I purchased the extended warranty because I know that if anything breaks down in the software, my car will be just an expensive yard ornament.
