VC Backed Urlist Shuts Down
Summary
Urlist, a Milan, Italy-based social platform for organizing, sharing and discovering links, is shutting down.Founded in 2011 by CEO Alberto Granzotto, Stefano Cavallari and Valentina Montagna, Urlist will be discontinued on December 31, 2014 at 1:00PM UTC.Today, Granzotto frankly explained the reasons of the close: We began our journey with a specific vision in our mind: To give to our users the best and easiest tool to categorize and share the information they find in the Internet. In the past couple of years together, we collected more than 380,000 links and created over 40,000 lists, curating content from “Irish Genealogy” to “JavaScript Frameworks”, “Open Data” to “Best Cat Videos”.We didn’t succeed in creating a sustainable platform for links and social bookmarking, but we believe this challenge can be met some day.
