Queremos (WeDemand in the USA), a Brazilian social crowdfunding platform focused on promoting concerts and other events, has raised c. $1m in funding.The round was led by Beyond Digital Limited (advised by Talis Capital Limited), with participation from industry and angel investors, including Sean Moriarty (ex-CEO of Ticketmaster).The company intends to use the capital for product development and market expansion efforts in the US.Launched in 2010 by CEO Tiago Compagnoni, Queremos has operated as a “closed” platform in Rio de Janeiro attracting 52 bands, mainly from the US and UK, including Feist, LCD Soundsystem, Vampire Weekend, Foster the People, Chromeo, Belle & Sebastian, The National and Of Montreal, and selling nearly 50k tickets and has attracted bands.The company now is expanding its presence in the US with the recent launch of the WeDemand platform.
