Microsoft adds new skills — and more oversight — for Copilot in Excel
Summary
Microsoft is expanding Copilot in Excel with new skills that automate finance workflows such as discounted cash flow models, variance analysis, and monthly reporting refreshes. The company is also adding a plan mode that lets users review and approve Copilot’s proposed actions before it changes spreadsheet data. Microsoft is opening Copilot to more third-party data sources, including Moody’s, CB Insights, Morningstar, and PitchBook, and partners like LSEG, Ramp, and Velixo are building their own skills. The new features are rolling out first to Insider users and then to paid Microsoft 365 Copilot customers.
