The analysis of 102 eSIM trips found that travelers consume about 1 GB per day on shorter trips and often buy more data than they actually use. It also showed that about 26% of travelers ran out of data or needed a top-up, especially when they started with smaller plans. The study suggests that a 10 GB plan is a practical default for many Japan trips and that same-day eSIM activation is common.
