GLEIF enables transparent tracking of energy asset ownership with GEM

GLEIF and Global Energy Monitor have partnered to link energy assets to their legal owners through standardized open data. The mapping will make it easier to trace ownership across coal mines, power plants, extraction fields, and pipelines. Organizations can use the data to assess exposure, support climate-related reporting, and satisfy due diligence requirements. Regulators and investors can also cross-check ownership against verified open-source records. GLEIF plans to publish the first open mapping file in June 2026 and then expose it through its API and LEI Search.
