EBRD helps HoSt Group boost biomethane production in Latvia

EBRD is lending €26 million to Next Biogas, a HoSt Group subsidiary, to acquire and convert an existing biogas plant in Latvia into a biomethane production facility. The project should become one of the country’s largest biomethane plants and will supply gas to the domestic market and European customers. The facility also captures biogenic CO₂, adding another sustainable output to the production process. This move supports energy security, low-carbon transition goals, and new business for agricultural suppliers. HoSt Group is using an Energy-as-a-Service model to own and operate renewable plants rather than acting only as a technology vendor.
